Edna Griggs

CEO

Edna Griggs is the CEO of Acres of Angels. She was born and raised in Acres Homes, one of the first communities homesteaded by African Americans and one of the largest in Houston, Texas. Edna is very involved in helping the seniors and young people in Acres Homes and is well respected among them. She is considered a political activist because of her involvement with various campaigns. She encourages and motivates the people in her community to get out and vote with each election. She organizes and participates in neighborhood rallies, walks, and other functions that involve getting people together for a good cause.

A desire to help others was instilled in Edna by her mother and grandmother. Her mother was a Registered Nurse and also a political activist. Because of her mother’s involvement in politics, she was able to help those in her community seeking employment find jobs, many with Harris County District. Her grandmother owned and operated a business in the heart of Acres Homes. She fed and housed many of the homeless from the same community.

Edna is a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. She has held several health fairs for church members to get them more involved in better personal health.

Edna was employed with AT&T for over 30 years. She has three wonderful children, three grandchildren, one sister, and one niece. No one who has ever met her will ever forget her.
